Data Deletion

We respect your right to control your data. This page explains how to request deletion of your information from Ads Performance Center and Potential Commerce, and what happens after a deletion request.

What data we hold

When you use Ads Performance Center, we may store:

  • Your account information (name, email, business name)
  • Your Shopify store connection and reporting data accessed through Shopify’s APIs
  • Your Meta advertising account connection and reporting data accessed through Meta’s Marketing API
  • Your stated business goals, saved views, filters, and other workspace configuration
  • Technical and usage metadata (login activity, IP address, app interactions)

The Service is designed to operate from normalized reporting data and workflow context. We do not persist raw Shopify customer records or raw Shopify order records as application records for normal Ads Performance Center use.

For full details on what we collect and why, see our Privacy Policy.

How to request deletion

You can request deletion of your data in any of the following ways:

  1. Uninstall Ads Performance Center from your Shopify admin. When you uninstall, Shopify automatically sends us a shop redaction webhook. Our system verifies Shopify’s webhook signature and then disconnects platform access, deletes tenant-owned workspace data, and anonymizes the shop identity in our application database. This is the most complete deletion path.
  2. Remove Ads Performance Center from your Meta account. When you remove the app from your Facebook settings, Meta automatically sends us an app data deletion request. Our system verifies Meta’s signed request and deletes your Meta connection and any associated selected Meta ad accounts. This deletes Meta-side connection data only — it does not delete your broader Ads Performance Center workspace data, which remains tied to your Shopify store.
  3. Email us at hello@potentialcommerce.com. Include the email address associated with your account and your Shopify store domain. We will acknowledge receipt within one business day.
  4. Use the in-app deletion request. Once Ads Performance Center is generally available, you will be able to request deletion from your account settings within the app.

What gets deleted by a Shopify shop redaction request

When Shopify sends us a shop redaction request, we delete the following workspace data:

  • Shopify connection
  • Meta connection and selected Meta ad accounts
  • Goals, saved views, filters, and intent assignments
  • Current Ads Performance Center working state
  • Saved insights, generated insight artifacts, and presets
  • Idempotency records

The following identifiers are anonymized:

  • Shop domain
  • Tenant display name
  • Insights system access flag

What gets deleted by a Meta app deletion request

When Meta sends us an app data deletion request, we delete:

  • Meta connection records associated with the requesting Meta user
  • Selected Meta ad accounts associated with those Meta connections

We do not delete the following from a Meta-only request, because they are tenant-scoped to your Shopify store rather than your Meta user account:

  • Shopify connection
  • Ads Performance Center workspace data
  • Saved views, insights, and presets
  • Billing records

To delete the broader workspace, use the Shopify uninstall path described above.

What we may retain

We may retain limited records when reasonably necessary for accounting, billing, security, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or audit purposes. Retained records are kept separate from active workspace data and are not used to continue providing the Service after a deletion request.

Deletion timing

Active app workspace deletion is designed to complete immediately when a valid Shopify shop redaction request is processed. Active Meta connection deletion is designed to complete immediately when a valid Meta app deletion request is processed.

We work to complete deletion from systems under our control — including database backups and application logs — within 30 days, unless retention is required for security, legal, billing, dispute, audit, or backup-continuity reasons.

Backup, log, support, analytics, and provider-retained data may follow separate retention periods depending on the applicable system, provider terms, and legal or operational requirements.

Shopify customer data requests

If you are a customer of a Shopify merchant who uses Ads Performance Center (rather than a merchant yourself), and you want to request deletion of your data:

  • Contact the Shopify merchant directly. They are the data controller for their customer information.
  • Ads Performance Center processes data only on behalf of the merchant. The merchant is responsible for handling your deletion request through Shopify’s customer data deletion process.
  • When a Shopify merchant submits a customer deletion request through Shopify’s mandatory webhooks, we receive and acknowledge the request. Because Ads Performance Center does not persist raw Shopify customer records as application records, our acknowledgment does not require additional row-level deletion at the customer level.

AI-processed data

Ads Performance Center uses AI-assisted features that send selected business reporting data to third-party AI providers (Google Cloud / Vertex AI, OpenAI, and Anthropic models via Vertex AI when enabled). Provider-side retention is governed by each provider’s terms and configuration. We select business-oriented provider offerings designed to limit retention, but provider-retained data may follow separate retention periods that we do not directly control.

We do not retain raw AI prompts or raw AI outputs in routine production application logs by default.
